Members Should Attend More Meetings

Having recently attended the last two chapter meetings that have been held in Monticello, AR, I would like to take the time to tell everyone how much this was an exciting experience for me to attend these meetings and see for myself how this really works. I have attended other meetings in another area which was before we formed our own chapter. These meetings seemed different in a way because I was more involved this time around and really enjoyed the atmosphere in which the meetings were held.

I must admit that I have been somewhat disappointed not to see more members at the recent meetings. I look at these meetings as a chance to get together with fellow officers from all over the area to get together and talk about the things that are important to us.

As our chapter grows and becomes more active, it becomes even more important that other officers attend these meetings. While the date and time may be a conflict for some, members within a department would benefit from arranging for at least one officer from their department to attend each meeting. This is a must if members want their agencies to benefit from the associations activities.

I am aware that there are many officers who would like to participate in the chapter but find it difficult to make meetings. I will do my best to keep all members in the Southeast Arkansas Chapter updated on all chapter meetings and events. Like I noted earlier, I hope more members become involved in these members because the association is what we make of it.

I encourage those of you who are in our area and are interested in becoming more involved in the Southeast Arkansas Chapter to contact me. Those of you who are in this chapter and don’t participate, then the chapter will not be able to address your concerns. I can be reached at (870)-364-4131 or (870)-304-6987.

See you at the next meeting!
