In early February of this year the Mississippi Division of Southern States PBA learned of a parole hearing to be held on March 28, 2006, for the parole consideration of Israel Bradley. Bradley was convicted and currently serving his sentence for the 1973 murder of Sergeant David H. Anthony with the Hattiesburg Police Department. The murder of Sergeant Anthony occurred when he responded to an armed robbery alarm at a local bank.

On February 17, 2006, a Cap-Wiz Alert was sent to Mississippi PBA Division members who have subscribed to the PBA Cap-Wiz system. The alert asked members to oppose the parole of inmate Israel Bradley, by emailing the included letter of opposition to the State Parole Board.

The parole board has subsequently denied Bradley’s parole He will not be considered again until January of 2011. Many of you responded to our alert by sending messages of opposition to his parole to the parole board. Without question, this had to have a profound effect on the board in it's consideration of this matter.

This is just another of the many ways PBA has been able to utilize the Cap-Wiz alert system to benefit the law enforcement profession and our membership. If you wish to subscribe to Cap-Wiz and received such alerts as these simply click on the Southern States Police Benevolent Association -- Legislative Action Center fill out the requested subscriber information and you’re on board.
