North Carolina Chapter Leaders Attend PBA Leadership Training

On October 20th and 21st, chapter leaders (Tom Lesser - Sr. Vice President, N. Mecklenburg chapter, Jeff Worley, Sr. Vice - President, NC Highway Patrol chapter, Emerson Carroll -President, Roanoke Valley chapter, Cory Griffin - Sr. Vice President, Roanoke Valley chapter, and Josh Simpson - Sr. Vice President, Mtn. chapter) attended leadership training SSBPA headquarters in Locust Grove, GA. The training gives PBA leaders valuable insight into the history and operations of the organization and how to be a more effective leaders with the PBA. The training was led by Terry Nowell the Director of Training and Research for SSPBA. Chapter leaders from Mississippi, Virginia, Georgia, and Alabama were also in attendance. Topics included the history of SSPBA, leading a PBA Chapter, conducting meetings, the committee structure, recruiting and membership, political action, legal defense benefits, and handling grievance issues. Class participants also got a tour of the SSPBA headquarters in McDonough, GA and heard from numerous staff members including Renee Dixon-Chief Operating Officer, Joni Fletcher-Director of Legal Services, and Marlon Trone - Executive Director of the Police Benevolent Foundation.
