Police Activities League Sponsorship Important Part of PBA

|
The North Carolina Police Activities League Inc. (PAL) is a charitable arm of the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association (PBA). PAL seeks to build a positive bond between officers and youth in various age groups through sports initiatives. The PAL program is available to all active and compliant NCPBA chapters and offers members the opportunity for outreach in the communities they serve. In many instances, members are already coaching a team or have a child that is playing on team. The Cary chapter and the Winston-Salem chapter are two chapters that have taken advantage of this awesome program.
Cary Senior Babe Ruth Team
The Cary chapter has sponsored a Senior Babe Ruth baseball team for four years. Babe Ruth Baseball was born in 1966 and has increased steadily since its inception. The team that the Cary chapter sponsors is part of the Triangle Senior Babe Ruth League. The Triangle Senior Babe Ruth League provides an opportunity for players between the ages 15 to 18 throughout all of District 2 in Eastern North Carolina to participate in a challenging league and further develop their advanced skills. Character, leadership, and sportsmanship are emphasized in the Triangle Senior League. The team finished in 2nd place in league play this summer with a 9-5 record. The team is coached by Bob Slocum and Bill Kamszik.
Carolina Attitude The Winston-Salem chapter sponsored the 2009 Carolina Attitude Fast Pitch Softball team. The team is made of twelve great girls who are 10 and 11 years of age. The majority of the girls live in the North Davidson area community. The team also has players from Davie County, Clemmons, Monroe and Greensboro. The Carolina Attitude team has superb coaches who not only instill softball skills, but also teach discipline, confidence and teamwork. Jeff Pace serves as the manager of the team. Erik Mitchell and David Hart serve as the assistant coaches. The majority of the current team has been together for over a year. The team has done very well this year. In the first five tournaments, The Attitude finished in 2nd Place three times, 3rd Place once and 4th Place once. They also won the NCAAU Top Gun-NC Summer Championship, the NSA (National Softball Association) Mighty Casey championship and the 2009 NSA (National Softball Association) North Carolina championship. The team also finished in 2nd Place in total tournament points for NSA. Since September of 2008, the girls have achieved a record of 50-15. They also earned enough points and wins to receive an invitation to the National Softball Association World Series (“A” Division). The 2008 team finished in 2nd Place at last year’s NSA World Series (“B” Division) tournament.
