PBA,
I have been a
little late in doing this, but I wanted to
let you guys know that the SLED excessive
force investigation that I was involved in
concluded in March. SLED sent their finding
to our solicitor who quickly returned a
determination that he found no evidence of
any wrongdoing on our part. He further
stated that he believed that our actions
that night were "certainly justified" given
the level of resistance and the fact that
the suspect was an armed felon. This ordeal
was made much easier by my membership in the
PBA. Within hours of being formally
notified of the investigation, a local
attorney had been retained and I had invoked
my rights under Garritty and Miranda. |
