A True Friend to PBA Moves On

It is no secret that the growth of the PBA is attributed to  the fantastic employees that make it possible for  us provide service to our members.  One of the most recognizable employees to our membership over the years has been Richard Orr.  Richard was a long time law enforcement officer in Florida and has spent the last 12 years as an invaluable employee and friend of the PBA.  It can be said that it is an end to an era as we announce Richard’s retirement from the PBA.  Although saddened by his departure, we are grateful for the many years of dedication and service.  Richard has chosen to leave PBA behind to pursue other ventures closer to his home and family in Florida.   He is a true friend to us all and his presence will be missed.

Over the years, Richard Orr has held many titles; however, no title is more appropriate than a “friend of law enforcement.”  With most of his time spent on the road, traveling from his home in Florida to conduct PBA duties on the road, he has ultimate knowledge of  the impact that PBA has on its members and the law enforcement community.  Richard played a key role in the development of the divisions that make up the Southern States PBA including the Virginia Police Benevolent Association, the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association and the Arkansas Police Benevolent Association, and many others.  Richard has held many titles over the years. As the Director of Organizational Services and most recently as the Director of Marketing, Richard helped to streamline the fundraising activities of the association.  With the decline in telemarketing affecting many businesses across the country, Richard was determined and deliberate in his unwillingness to allow the PBA to follow the same trend.

Richard was honored with a plaque and resolution certificate that was presented to him by Southern States Police Benevolent Association president and friend Jack L. Roberts for his many years of hard work and dedication to the Southern States Police Benevolent Association and its membership.

Richard brought a friendly attitude with him into work everyday and always knew how to brighten a room with his comedic stories and friendly remarks.  Do not let his unique sense of humor fool you though.  “He was a real go getter and a mover and shaker,”  said Wayne Tubb, Director of Financial Services, when asked what he recalled of Richards time here.  Richard really knew how to get the job done, no matter what the job was. That work ethic is hard to find in any employee.  Fortunately, the PBA consists of equally dedicated individuals that have benefited from his leadership and development.  Richard will be deeply missed.  Thanks for the years of hard work and service Richard.
