Members:
We are proud to announce the arrival of our largest contribution to date. The International Association of Chiefs of Police has graciously donated $108,780.14 to the Police Benevolent Foundation. These funds are restricted and can only be used for Hurricane Katrina and Rita relief efforts in Louisiana. As we move to disburse these funds, it is important to note that we will continue, as was our purpose in the onset of this endeavor, to serve any law enforcement officer in need. We will continue to screen and verify all requests and put the funds in the hands of those officers that have sustained their commitment to serve their community and continue to perform the duties to which they were sworn.
We should be proud to know that the IACP has deemed our organization both worthy and responsible in our fiscal and social activities. As you may recall, assistance after the Hurricane Katrina disaster was the first official activity of the Foundation. We not only raised and distributed more than $85,000 in cash donations, but we also facilitated the collection and delivery of clothing, food, building supplies, and temporary housing for hundreds of law enforcement officers and their families.
This donation is just the beginning of many to come. This relief effort is the first of many PBF initiated activities. We encourage each of you, as members, as concerned citizens, as activists in your community, to get involved in the process. Even if you haven’t been as active as you would like to be in your own chapters, we know that this Foundation is a new opportunity for you to shine. Be Aware! Be Proud! Be Involved!
Thanks for all that you do, From all of us at the Police Benevolent Foundation.
