Benevolent Association joins local sheriffs |

(Yorktown, VA) - Congresswoman Jo Ann Davis has received the endorsement of the Virginia Police Benevolent Association as well as the endorsement of County Sheriffs from across Virginia's First Congressional district. The three-term lawmaker received the endorsement of the Virginia PBA as well as endorsement of the following sheriffs: Gabe Morgan, City of Newport News, Danny Diggs, York County - Poquoson, Bob Deeds, Williamsburg - James City County, Robin Stanaway, Gloucester County, Danny Howlett, Mathews County, Jeff Walton, King William County, Bobby Walton, King and Queen County, Guy Abbott, Middlesex County, Ronald Crockett, Lancaster County, Douglas Bryant, Richmond County, Charlie Jackson, Westmoreland County, Clarence Dobson, King George County, Howard Smith, Spotsylvania County, Paul Higgs, City of Fredericksburg and Charlie Jett, Stafford County. "The Virginia Police Benevolent Association proudly announces our endorsement of Congresswoman Jo Ann Davis for Virginia District 1 of the US Congress," said A.C. Sadler, the President of the Colonial Chapter of the Virginia Police Benevolent Association. "Congresswoman Davis has been a supporter of law enforcement and the VA PBA since she was a member of the Virginia General Assembly and has continued to be an ally in US Congress. She supports our issues of due process, the protection of retirement funds and the protection of officer's personal information," said Sadler. "We are extremely fortunate to have Congresswoman Jo Ann Davis as a strong advocate for public safety," said Stafford County Sheriff Charlie Jett. "She has helped to secure much needed public safety resources for our men and women that are on the front lines everyday protecting the citizens of our communities. Congresswomen Davis understands the importance of safe communities and works hand in hand with law enforcement to ensure our citizens are afforded the protection they deserve," added Jett. "Representative Jo Ann Davis is a good friend and supporter of law enforcement," said Williamsburg-James City County Sheriff Bob Deeds. "She is responsive to the needs of First District Sheriffs and their Deputies. Representative Davis' efforts help us maintain law and order in our communities," added Sheriff Deeds. "Our first responders are on the front line, keeping our families safe," said Congresswoman Jo Ann Davis. "We have some of the best law enforcement in the Commonwealth right here in the First District, and while they spend their days fighting to protect us, it is an honor to work for them in Congress" added Davis. Davis is a cosponsor of the State and Local Law Enforcement Discipline, Accountability, and Due Process Act of 2005 which would create a national due process standard for law enforcement officers across the United States. Davis also has consistently supported increased funding for First Responders and has been a vocal supporter of initiatives like the 21st Century Emergency Communications Act of 2006, which helps ensure that our Nation's first responders are able to communicate during an emergency.
