The successes of an active PBA endorsement
season were revealed with November election
results (and some December run-offs). Chapters
screened 44
races for local office. At the state level,
141 races
for statewide office were screened, including
3 Division
screenings for Governor. Of the 210 candidates
endorsed, 164
were elected to office for a
78% PBA success.
Well done all!
The PBA endorsed candidates won
33 of the local
races (including 11
Sheriffs). At the state office level, 99 PBA
endorsed legislative candidates were elected
(one died prior to election day). Elected state
executive and judicial candidates, endorsed by
PBA, included one Governor, two Lt. Governors,
one Attorney General, 7
appellate judges and 5
additional cabinet-level executives.
On a national level, Divisions screened for
24 of the 65
available races in the US House of
Representatives and one of the three races for
the US Senate. Of the PBA endorsed candidates in
the House, 15
were elected (all of them incumbents). The
PBA endorsed US Senate candidate, Jim Webb from
Virginia was elected (changing the balance of
power in the Senate).
