NCPBA Makes Endorsements for NC Supreme Court and Court of Appeals

The PBA's endorsement of judicial candidates continues to be the most comprehensive and successful process of any law enforcement association effort. PBA endorsed judges continue to make landmark decisions that are improving conditions for North Carolina law enforcement officers. While federal courts were once the primary forum for adjudicating constitutional and civil rights claims of law enforcement officers, federal courts have become hostile to officers in many areas of law.

PBAGA Legislative Update 03-13-12

The Second Term of the 2011-12 Legislative Session began on January 9, 2012. This session may last up to 40 legislative days and is anticipated to end sometime in late March or early April. The 30th Day is known as cross over day and is in theory the last day a bill can cross from one chamber to the other.

MSPBA Legislative Alert 03-08-12

March 8, 2012

Senate Bill 2380, has passed out of the Senate Committee chaired by Senator Nancy Collins with a recommendation to pass.  It not goes to the full Senate for a vote.  This legislation will remove all state employees including law enforcement and corrections out from under the State Personnel Board, essentially making them AT WILL employees with no due process rights and can be terminated with or without cause.  It is not necessary to remove these employees out from under the State Personnel Board, stripping them of Due Process in order to have a reduction of employee positions, reorganization of departments or even consolidation of departments. A process for such action is already provided for in the current State Personnel Board Policies.
