Alabama PBA recognizes ALPBA Executive Director J.D. Hobbie for his work on the Blue Alert bill in Alabama

On September 15, 2012, the Alabama Police Benevolent Association gathered for the annual ALPBA division board meeting and presented an award went J.D. Hobbie, the Executive Director of the ALPBA. Hobbie was honored for his work lobbying the Blue Alert Bill to Alabama legislature. A Blue Alert is activated when a local, state or federal law enforcement officer in Alabama has been killed or seriously injured and the perpetrator is at large. The Blue Alert system was modeled after the Amber Alert System, which is now nationwide, and Georgia’s current Blue Alert System.
“J.D Hobbie was an instrumental part of getting the bill passed in 2012 Alabama Legislative session,” said Donald Scott.
J.D. Hobbie began his career with the SSPBA in 1990. After retiring as a Sergeant with the Alabama State Troopers, J.D. was appointed Executive Director of the Alabama Division of the Southern States Police Benevolent Association. Hobbie attended Troy State University in Montgomery while employed by the Department of Public Safety and earned a B.S and M.S. Degree in Criminal Justice. J.D. is married to Patricia Hobbie and they are the parents of twin daughters, Deborah and Frances.
