Thank you for choosing to have your Last Will and Testament prepared by our Legal Department at SSPBA. Listed on this page are a few reminders to consider as you have your will prepared.

The Southern States PBA now offers Simple Will Preparation for its Georgia members. This program is just another avenue for providing exceptional service to our members. We want to make sure that not only you, the member, are protected, but also the families that you love so much. Listed below are a few factors to consider in preparation of your will.
Please note the following events can void your will, unless your will is made in contemplation of these events:
1- Birth or adoption of child
2- Marriage
3- Divorce
4- Physical alteration or destruction of the will
5- Significant change in financial status
6- Death of a beneficiary
7- Desire to add or change beneficiaries
8 - Death or incapacity of a named executor.
In addition to any of the above events, it is advisable to have an attorney review your will upon any major change in your life circumstances, in order to make certain that your will still satisfies your wishes. In most states, the will cannot be changed by adding, deleting, or modifying words on the face of the will; such changes are usually disregarded. It is recommended that the will be revoked by signing a new will which expressly revokes the previous will.
Make sure that your executor/executrix knows where to find your will and that it can be easily located. We recommend that you select a safe place - OTHER THAN A SAFETY DEPOSIT VAULT - for storing your will. A safety deposit box is not easily accessible at the time of your death.

Maddie Cone, Auburn University freshman, is eager to show her love for the outside world with a degree in agricultural education. ?I chose this field to create change in the world through my love for agriculture and education,? she said. ?Receiving this scholarship is a great honor,? she said. ?Law enforcement runs deep in my family. This scholarship not only helps to alleviate the financial burdens of college, but it also shows the great support PBF has for the families of law enforcement.? Maddie said she is excited about her future and teaching young students to love and appreciate the earth as much as she always has.

Whatever Piedmont High School graduate Trey Hinson tackles, he conquers. Next up, college and a law enforcement career in the footsteps of his father, NCPBA member Jason Hinson. Trey has earned two scholarships, in fact, the NCBA Division scholarship and a Foundation Scholarship, earmarked for those students pursuing a degree in criminal justice or criminology. He started college at Appalachian State University in fall of 2024.
