Introduction of HB-329 and SB-268

Under existing law, the protection against disclosure of certain personal identifying information about a state employee on any document is available for public inspection applies only to those state employees who are subject to the state Merit System. A bill that is sponsored by the Alaabama PBA would amend Section 41-13- 7, code of Alabama 1975, to expand that protection against disclosure to include employees of the criminal justice sector employed at any level of government within the state.

HB-329 has been introduced by Representative David Standridge (R) 34 District (Blount & Jefferson) and SB-268 by Senator Clay Scofield 9th District ( Blount, Madison & Marshall). House bill 329 is in the Public Safety& Homeland Security Committee  and is pending committee action. Senate bill 268 is in the Governmental Affairs Committee and is pending committee action.

HB-329 co- sponsors are Wallace, Ward, Farley, Threadway, Long, Ball, Beach and Newton.
SB-268 co- sponsors are Williams, Glover, Allen, Bedford, Fielding, Whatley and Holly.
