AENC Event Offers Unique Opportunity for
Networking with Legislators
On January 30, 2013, NC PBA Leaders from across the state attended the 2013 Legislative Reception honoring members of the 2013 General Assembly hosted by the Association Executives of North Carolina at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. The Southern States PBA served as a sponsor of the event.
Established in 1955, Association Executives of North Carolina (AENC) is committed to providing high quality professional development and networking opportunities to help you develop your fullest potential and foster the recognition and respect of the association management profession. Members include CEOs and staff of associations across North Carolina, as well as representatives from the association service and hospitality industries.
The event offered the opportunity for North Carolina PBA leaders to meet with legislators and discuss legislation with legislators including procedural due process for municipal officers. Leaders included NC Division and Cary Chapter President Randy Byrd, Executive Director John Midgette, NC Division Senior Vice-President and Corrections Chapter President Wardell Williams, NC Division Vice-President and Mtn. Chapter President Brandon McGaha, NC Division Secretary and North Mecklenburg Chapter President Tom Slymon, Raleigh Chapter President Narley Cashwell, Cary Chapter Vice President and Legislative Chairperson John Glascock, State Law Enforcement Chapter Sr. Vice-President Steve Anthony, Mtn. Chapter Legislative Legislative Chairperson Robert Merz, and retired PBA member George Almond.
According to NC Division President Randy Byrd, “This reception offered the NC PBA a unique opportunity to network with numerous legislators to discuss issues that are of vitally important to our members and the law enforcement community.” He added, “We are looking forward to building on this opportunity in the 2013-2014 session.”
