
Oversight Committee hears from DPS officials on Prison Reform

On January 25th, the NCPBA was present at the Joint Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety meeting at the General Assembly. They met to hear an update on prison reform from North Carolina Department of Public Safety Secretary Erik Hooks. Hooks was supported by numerous staff in his presentation and members of the committee asked a wide array of questions.

Working, volunteering her time with Habitat for Humanity, and playing soccer for Pinecrest High School kept Hailey Klingenschmidt busy during her high school years. Still, she was able to maintain straight A?s, even with five rigorous AP courses and six dual enrollment classes in the mix. Now, as a freshman at UNC Charlotte, she is drafting a promising future in her college years and beyond.
