The North Georgia Chapter of the PBA of Georgia is Proud to Endorse Duane Piper for Forsyth County Sheriff
Jul 12, 2012
(McDonough, GA – July 12, 2012) – The North Georgia Chapter of the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) of Georgia recently held a screening for candidates seeking election for sheriff in Forsyth County. During the interview process, Duane Piper demonstrated why his experiences qualify him to represent the voters of Forsyth County. He also demonstrated to the North Georgia chapter that he is committed to making strong, effective law enforcement a priority in his campaign. The North Georgia Chapter of the PBA of Georgia is proud to announce our endorsement of Duane Piper for Forsyth County Sheriff.
The Police Benevolent Association of Georgia is a division of Southern States PBA. Its members are federal, state, county, and municipal law enforcement officers working in Georgia. There are currently 26 active, semi-autonomous chapters in Georgia representing nearly 7,000 members. Each chapter has a representative (usually the chapter president) serving on the Georgia Board of Directors. The chapters and division hold screenings of political candidates in their jurisdictions because most law enforcement officers do not have the opportunity to personally talk with the candidates about issues important to law enforcement. Board members develop questions for candidates and evaluate their responses so the PBA can make informed voting recommendations to our members and the public.
On June 30, 2012, the North Georgia Chapter of the PBA of Georgia held a political screening for Forsyth County Sheriff. The screening committee members scored candidates based on their responses to questions which focused on progressive changes to meet the challenges of a dynamic environment, budget and funding, and how the candidates will work with the association to help improve the law enforcement community.
After hearing responses from all the candidates, the committee debated the merits of the candidates. At the conclusion of the debate, the committee voted to recommend the endorsement for Forsyth County Sheriff.
The PBA of Georgia is proud to put our full support behind Duane Piper. According to North Georgia Chapter President John Dawson, “PBA is proud to support the candidacy of Duane Piper, and we look forward to working with him to support law enforcement officers in Forsyth County.”

Jackson Patterson is a freshman at the University of South Alabama with several big ambitions. He's just not sure which ones he will follow yet. "Right now, my biggest challenge is deciding what I want my future to look like," he told me. He's studying engineering, and it's possible that he chooses to go straight into building a career in the aerospace industry after college. But it's also possible that he takes an even more interesting path ? he's interested in traveling the world and performing on stage, for example ? because if one thing's for sure about Jackson, it's that he's willing to branch out and try new things that he finds exciting ? even if they're unconventional.
