Two PBA members travel 130 miles to participate in the Augusta, Ga Race for the Fallen

(L to R) Coastal Counties Chapter Secretary, Rebekah Gregory with CSRA Chapter President, Patrick Cullinan, Jr. and Coastal Counties Chapter President, Rob Santoro.

Two PBA members and detectives from the Savannah Chatham Metro Police Department made the 130-mile trek to participate in the Augusta Race for the Fallen event. PBA Coastal Counties Chapter President, Rob Santoro and Coastal Counties Chapter Secretary, Rebekah Gregory made the trip to support the law enforcement community.

Attending the Race for the Fallen was very important to Coastal Counties Chapter President, Rob Santoro. “We have been working hard to get the Coastal Counties Chapter established again as an active and relevant chapter. CSRA Chapter President, Patrick Cullinan, Jr. and his chapter have been great mentors and gave us a fantastic model to emulate. We wanted to show solidarity with our fellow PBA chapter, but most importantly, we wanted to support the effort for fallen law enforcement officers and their families,” said Rob.

For Coastal Counties Chapter Secretary Rebekah Gregory, the Race for the Fallen 5K Glow Run was her second race that day. Saturday morning Rebekah participated in the Savannah Rock N’ Roll half marathon. She also competed in another 5K the following day after the Race for the Fallen. But that didn’t stop Rebekah from supporting the law enforcement community at the Race for the Fallen. She even went on to place third in her age group. Rob also fared quite well in the race and finished fifth in his age group.

Rebekah loved her first Race for the Fallen event. “I think the glow run makes it fun and the route was beautiful.” Rebekah is also very humble. She said, “I definitely ran a lot. It was worth it.” Regarding the 130-mile distance from Savannah to Augusta, Rebekah said, “It wasn’t that big of a deal when you look at the cause we are supporting. As law enforcement and as a community, we need to stick together. Anything I can do to help the families of those who protect citizens of their communities, I am game.” Rob added, “My favorite part of the race was the atmosphere. Night races are always fun, but this was also my first glow run and it was a blast!”

We would like to thank Rebekah and Rob for their support. They are highly dedicated and valued members of the PBA.
