The Atlanta PD Chapter grieves the loss of former chapter president Marcia Dell

The Police Benevolent Association of Georgia and the Southern States Police Benevolent Association are mourning the loss of one of their own.
Sergeant Marcia Dell had been a member of the PBA since 1990. She started serving our organization as the Atlanta Police Department Chapter President in 2006 and then retired in August 2010. Marcia passed away on May 7, 2013.
Born in September 1955 in Atlanta, Georgia, Marcia was the daughter of the late Willie Lee Sweeney, Sr. and Lois Maxine Clark Sweeney and was one of fourteen children. She graduated from Daniel O'Keefe High School in June 1972, received a B.S. Degree from the DeVry Institute of Technology and a M.S. Degree from Central Michigan University. After 32 years of service, she retired from the Atlanta Police Department as a Sergeant. Marcia was preceded in death by her father, four brothers, and four nephews.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, son, four grandchildren, partner, six sisters, three brothers; a host of relatives and co-workers. The cortege will assemble at the residence at 10:00AM.
The Homegoing Celebration Service for Marcia Lynn Dell, age 57, will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 11:00AM at Cascade United Methodist Church, 3144 Cascade Road, Southwest, Atlanta, Georgia with Rev. Dr. Marvin A. Moss, Senior Pastor, officiating. Entombment, The Abbey at Westview Cemetery. Her remains will be placed in state at the church at 10:00AM.
The Omega Omega Service of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will be held on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Friendship Baptist Church, 437 Mitchell Street, Southwest, Atlanta, Georgia at 6:00PM with family visitation immediately following.
Sergeant Marcia Dell with be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
