VAPBA Culpeper Chapter Update

After a very successful membership drive at both the Culpeper Police Department and the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office, the Culpeper Chapter of the PBA has started a steering committee to establish an active PBA chapter to serve law enforcement in our area.

The meeting was held at the depot conference center.  We met with VAPBA Executive Director, Sean McGowan, VAPBA Division President, Jim Woloszyn, and VAPBA Recuiter, Jim Suttenfield from the PBA. They gave us a guideline and the Culpeper Chapter is already running with it.

A local chapter not only strengthens our bond as PBA members, but also allows us to set up political action committees, grievance committees, and membership committees in our area. It will give law enforcement from Culpeper a voice in the local and state political process that can help improve our work environment, retirement benefits, and grievance procedures.

We have established our goals for the steering committee and had volunteers ready to start moving forward. Your local steering committee consists of: Jason Deal, Amy Ressler, Jeff Dodson, Chris Taylor, and C. T. Hibbs.

The purpose of this committee is to establish membership, inform the members of the plan to set up a chapter, reach out to surrounding jurisdictions to gain more support, and to keep the motivation moving forward.

Our next meeting is April 4, 2013 at 1830 hours at the Depot Conference Center.

We hope you will join us at the next meeting. If you can't make it, reach out to your steering committee with any ideas or thoughts on how we can make this a success.
