VAPBA Prince William County Chapter Update

On Saturday, August 10th, I had the opportunity to participate in the VAPBA political screenings for Governor, Lt Governor, and Attorney General. I was first impressed with the professionalism of each of our fellow chapter members, it's obvious all of them hold our profession in the highest light and represent this standard in the PBA's dealings. Candidates from all three top office races attended, seeking PBA endorsements.

I was also humbled to learn many of the other police representative organizations which conduct political interviews and endorsements are not well received or sought after by candidates. This is just the opposite of the PBA. Many of the candidates commented on their admiration of our standards and adherence to the ideals we run our organization with. They were very honored to even have the chance to interview.

Further, many have credited some of their success in the past to the relationship they have built with the PBA and regard our endorsement as a very highly prized asset. The screening itself was very well structured. Each chapter representative was of the utmost professional appearance and demeanor. The screenings were formal and impartial and the candidates often noted the fresh air to speak freely without impulsive or emotional backlash. Many appreciated the straight forward approach to our process.

Each of you should be proud of our reputation. It exists because of the interactions these politicians, their family, friends, and colleagues have with each of you. When these people meet with the PBA in events like this, they are only reminded of our call to the highest ideals and want to be honored with our endorsement.
