Jan 1, 2015
On December 23, 2014, the West Central Chapter of the Police Benevolent Association of Georgia hosted their 2014 Blue Lights and Smiles community event. Local law enforcement including the Columbus Police Department, the Columbus State University Police Department, the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office, the Muscogee County Marshal's Office, and the Muscogee County Prison gathered at the CSU Police Headquarters. The group then traveled by lights and sirens to the Midtown Medical Center. Patients of the Children's Hospital gathered by the windows to see the arriving patrol cars and wave at the officers. The officers were met at the hospital by representatives from Shaw High School and CSU’s Cody the Cougar. The group visited with patients and distributed stuffed animals, books, candy canes and other items.
