THE NCPBA AND PBF SET TO AID HUNTERSVILLE POLICE OFFICER?S FAMILY AFTER SON WAS BADLY BURNED

The Police Benevolent Foundation (PBF,) Inc. and the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association (NCPBA) are rallying behind Huntersville Police Officer and PBA member, Brian Luthart, whose three-year-old son, Griffin, was severely burned when an outdoor oil torch suddenly exploded near him. Griffin was urgently airlifted to N.C. Children's Hospital at UNC Health Care where he will be undergoing extensive surgery.

After learning about this unfortunate family tragedy, the North Mecklenburg Chapter of the NCPBA and the PBF have established a recovery fund to help the Luthart family on the long road to recovery. While it’s unclear how long Griffin will be hospitalized, the family will need all the support the community can offer.

NCPBA North Mecklenburg Chapter president Tom Slymon said, “We are saddened by the unfortunate events that took place during a simple family gathering for the Lutharts. Brian Luthart has been a valuable member of law enforcement for many years. His work, civic involvement, mentoring and leadership have always been positive influences in our community in Huntersville. We have created a recovery fund which will directly go to the family during their time of need.”
Donations can be made to the “Griffin Luthart Recovery Fund” at any area Wells Fargo Bank through the Police Benevolent Foundation’s account to assist in efforts to provide financial support to the Luthart family in this time of need.  Donations can also be made through the Police Benevolent Foundation by clicking here.

You can also help the Luthart family by texting the phrase COPS GRIFFIN to 85944.  A $10 donation will be made to the "Griffin Luthart Recovery Fund" through your cell phone bill.  The PBF is asking everyone to please pass this information along to friends and family.
