The North Georgia Chapter of the PBA of Georgia is Proud to Endorse Duane Piper for Forsyth County Sheriff

McDonough, GA - July 12, 2012) The North Georgia Chapter of the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) of Georgia recently held a screening for candidates seeking election for sheriff in Forsyth County. During the interview process, Duane Piper demonstrated why his experiences qualify him to represent the voters of Forsyth County. He also demonstrated to the North Georgia chapter that he is committed to making strong, effective law enforcement a priority in his campaign. The North Georgia Chapter of the PBA of Georgia is proud to announce our endorsement of Duane Piper for Forsyth County Sheriff.

SCPBA 119th General Assembly Second Session June 2012

As the Second Session of the 119th General Assembly comes to a close, legislation of importance to members that was passed is noted here. Retirement Bill PASSED H 4967 Retirement Changes Passed and signed into law June 26, 2012 This law modifies many provisions of the SC retirement system, including SCPORS (South Carolina Police Officers Retirement System) but maintains it as a �??Defined Benefit�?� plan. It creates a third class of employees with modified benefits for those hired after enactment of this law. This law also has changes for current employees and retirees.

The North Carolina Police Benevolent Association meets with elected officials in Raleigh regarding the proposed Fayetteville Citizens Review Board

The North Carolina Police Benevolent Association met with elected officials in Raleigh Monday to make suggestions regarding the proposed Fayetteville Citizens Review Board. Representative Rick Glazier proposed a series of amendments which the NCPBA felt would help protect the privacy of Fayetteville police officers and ensure fair treatment and transparency in the Citizen Review Board procedure.

The Police Benevolent Foundation is set to aid the family of fallen Bladen County Deputy Dewayne Hester

The Police Benevolent Foundation, Inc. and the North Carolina Division of the Southern States PBA are rallying behind the family of Bladen County Sheriff's Deputy Dewayne Charles Hester who died after a car crash while responding to a call on Friday, June 8, 2012. Deputy Hester was 39 years old and leaves behind his wife and two children.

The 2012 SSPBA annual board meeting was held on Friday, June 8, 2012 in McDonough, GA at the Hilton Garden Inn. Board members received reports from each PBA department head, discussed policies and elected a new SSPBA Executive Board.

SB 939 is bad legislation that would harm police in Fayetteville

2012 Legislative Update ERS Employees Retirement System June 2012

June 4, 2012

HB255 (Act 2012-302) requires retirement contributions on overtime pay with earnable compensation capped at 120% of base pay for all members of the TRS and ERS.
